Nokia and Vimeo have teamed up for a HD short filmaking contest. You must submit a proposal for a short film of any genre to be filmed on a Nokia N8 smartphone (a “Film Proposal”). The Film Proposal must consist of a video not exceeding two (2) minutes in length that explains your idea for the proposed film. You may also, but are not required to, submit an accompanying written statement not to exceed 100 words and web links to no more than three (3) videos that you have previously created. The proposed film must be consistent with the content requirements. Read the rules

Mobile Motion Pictures
We’ve made a small contribution to your idea. Pocket-size Nokia N8 adds a new dimension to mobile HD filmmaking. But like any advance in camera technology, it’s waiting for artists willing to try something new. That’s why we’re putting up a top prize of $10,000, and premieres at the Edinburgh Film Festival for all the finalists of Nokia Shorts 2011.
What’s Your Idea?
- 1. Pitch
- Pitch us a great concept. Put up an innovative idea, a unique approach, or unusual angle: in short, something new. The jury waits to be wowed.
- 2. Shoot
- If your pitch gets picked, we’ll help get your movie made. Eight filmmakers will shoot their short with a $5,000 production budget and 2 Nokia N8s.
- 3. Win
- All films will premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival with the Nokia Shorts 2011 Jury Prize & $10,000 cash going to the best mobile motion picture.
